La Tatuana Room
In time of the Inquisition there was a woman whose elegance and gaze captivated all the men around. Some claim she came in a boat but no one could specify where it came from, its arrival on any beach or harbor. Soon, she had made a lot of money and her charms on men worked so that all them fell at her feet. She didn’t have any real name or surname, she was only known as "La Tatuana".
One day, while having a lavish celebration because of the anniversary of her last property acquisition, local authorities came to seize her. "What am I charged with?" She inquired. The answer came only after several days of confinement. She was accused of having bewitched all local men and witches weren’t tolerated. She wasn’t allowed any defense yet she wasn’t tortured because the sentence was immediate, the authorities had decided she would die by being burned alive. So it happened, "The Tatuana" splendidly attired in evening gown, on the eve of the adjustment, looked from the depths of her dark eyes to her jailer’s and asked him to grant her one last wish: a charcoal so she could draw. Morning came and the guard came to look for her to take her to the square, but she was gone. In one of the walls there was a drawing, made with firm lines and looking like a sailboat, imposing and strong as the one they said "La Tatuana" had arrived into town. They say you could see her, on the boat drawn on the wall, sailing away, never to return.
